The original version of this system was a set of Grado SR-60 headphones, the AA HPA-1 amp, and a Aiwa XC-30m CD carousel. Only the HPA-1 remains. I forgot I had some Sennheriser HD-495 cans before the Grados. But those broke after a year (voice coil fell out of left side). Anyone who knows me knows I don't listen at loud volumes. So it wasn't abuse.
And that was part of my system from my Audio Alchemy days (ca. 2001). I had the Audio Alchemy DLC preamp, OM-150 stereo amp, and the HPA-1.0 headphone amp. Speakers were initially Eosone RSF-600s and later Wharfedale Emerald 97s. I still have the EVS Millennium DAC1 from that rig. It's interesting that out of that system I kept the digital, but upgraded everything else. Normally it is the other way around (give how quickly digital progresses).
Like my earlier main system, this headphone system has that high-power mechanical sound to it. But it is alot fun.
