Recently took the leap from an integrated to separates and couldn't be happier. This system is the end (so far) of a long journey of upgrades and tweaking and I'm quite content at this point. I may play around some with cabling, but I can't really envision any short term upgrades in components. The VAC's and Dodd are magical together.

System edited: Replaced the VH Audio Pulsar with AZ Matrix Reference II. I am frankly shocked at the improvement in clarity, detail and bass response. I'm waiting on Tylers dedicated stands for the Taylo's; otherwise, I may done for a while.
Like your system! I used to have the Tylers with my SLI-80 but did not have the Millenium Tweeter. Bet your systems sounds great. Simple systems sound best!
Thanks for the compliments. Quite flattering in consideration of the systems you guys are sporting.
Ozzy62, the stands I'm currently using are the stands that go with the Soliloquy 5.0's that I was using before the Tylers. They are great stands, but I will probably sell them along with the 5.0's and pick up a pair of the Tyler stands.
System edited: Replaced Jolida JD100 CDP with Cary 308T. Although the JD100 is a great player, the synergy between the 308T and the SLI-80 seems much improved. Very happy so far.
Cruz123, very nice system! I have a Jolida JD100 on the way. My curiousity of tubes is growing, and I wanted to hear an all tube system. I'll have to get my hands on a pair of the GE JAN5751's. I look forward to seeing the new pics.!
System edited: Upgraded from my Jolida 302b to a Cary SLI-80. Also, now using the VH Audio Pulsar IC and added the new VH Audio Airsine PC. I hope to add pictures shortly.
Thanks for answer. I followed recommendations by Chris Johnson at partsconnexion and ended up with a similar collection of tubes (see my system link after you click on my name, since for some reason it does not show up otherwise). I really like the detail the EH12AX7 brought to my system and and enjoy the much tighter bass with the Svetlanas. The Mullard 12AT7 I have were really necessary to keep the musical qualities of the Jolida. I have to agree with you. I think the tube rolling was a huge improvement over the stock amp.
I am not sure whether I will add the tube dampers any time soon. I am thinking about first upgrading the powercords (maybe to the vh audio ones as well). How is yor experience with the "different" flavors, i.e. flavor 2 vs flavor 4?
Rene - I am currently using Svetlana El34's , EH12AX7's, and Telefunken 12Au7's. I haven't spent too much time trying other tubes - but hope to experiment more later on. The biggest improvement came from swapping out the 12AX7's in the JD100 with some GE JAN5751's. As far as the tube dampers, the improvement seemed to be fairly small, but I the cumulative result of the various tweaks I am implemented are definitely an improvement over stock.
Ssglx - thanks for the input. I'll give the decoupling tweak on the 5.0's a try when I get a chance and report the results.
Cruz, great setup and great choice of speakers. If you have some vibrapods, try putting the 5.0's on them. I also have the 5.0's driven by an Audio Refinement Amp, just wonderful! I bought the factory stands and just tried and tried to like them for a couple months. Just missed too much of the bass microdynamics that I heard when I first tried the speakers on some lightweight stands without the energy absorbing pads. I think when you put them on the 'pods (or cones if you have them) you will hear much more bass information at low levels as well as better pitch definition. With the pods you will hear more mid-bass, but the bass impact through the floor will be less with the decoupling effect of the pods.
How do you like Herbies tube dambers on your Jolida? Did you notice any improvements (more detail, soundstage, tighter bass)?
And while I am at it: Did you try some tube rolling on your Jolida? What tubes are you running at the moment?
I am playing with the thought of trying some different tubes on my 302b. Have you done any of the mods you were considering for your JD100 or 302b. (I just saw the question you raised in the your other thread).
I just got my Jolida JD302B earlier this week. Looks like it is going to replace $2500 worth of solid state gear driving my Mission 751 monitor speakers....
First impressions: I like the way the Jolida lets the music flow, excellent rhythm and timing. Overall a very musical amplifier. Surprisingly better P.R.A.T than the Linn gear.
