I only tried one nylon plate. I decided to keep it there. Did you try any yet?

Justin, I mostly listen to jazz. From Miles Davis to George Benson, from Crusaders to Al Jarreau. I like new age as well. From time to time I listen to pop and R&B. I don't mind listen to techno in the car.
As far as your cable goes. It has to be at least 2m long. Are you going to be in Portland area some time soon?

I haven't done any serious research on line conditioners yet. I don't have any local dealers for Hydra product :o(.
You might think I'm crazy, but I read about effect of the wall plate (receptacle cover)yesterday and tried it in my system
http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?ymisc&1134929736&read&keyw&zzwall+plate . It does make a difference! You should try it. Just take it off and see if you can hear any difference.

Nope, he hasn't post it yet. He wants to add multi-channel to his current 2-channel system. I wouldn't expect him to post any pictures until he completes his multi-channel project.
I'll be curious to hear your comments on power cables.

Justin,
my friends room is not on audiogon yet. I'll try to make it happen though.
I'm glad you like your new speaker cables. Let me know if you'll be in Portland area.

Justin, stop by if you will be in Portland. Don't forget to bring your digital cable :o).
From what I've heard so far I liked Marigo Apparition the best. Apparition 2 was the most transparent cable, but 5.7 is more forgiving/laid back on bright cd's.
I just came from my friends house. He finally finished his dedicated room. It is sooo nice...

I will start looking for a house next year. I might end up building one. So I can not comment on the room size yet.
I've been in the hobby throughout my childhood. I graduated about couple of years ago and this is how far I managed to get. I think I'm pretty much done except for some minor changes that should make a big difference. First I'm looking for good digital cable for my DAC. Second I want to tri-wire my speakers, so I think it's going to be Monster M2.2. I might get another rack as well.
I did compare the speaker wires before I bought them. I liked M2.4a, but I like even more the price I could purchase them for (I've got accomoddation deal when I work at retail). I am not a big fan of their analog interconnects, which I always have plenty laying around for my video components. BTW AudioQuest was the worst exerience with analog and digital interconnects I've ever had in my system.

Justin, I plan to have my dedicated room next year. As a temporary fix I cover my TV with a blanket when I do some serious listening.

Justin thanks a lot for suggestion. In fact I did play a lot with speaker placement. I learned that moving speakers by quarter of an inch can make a dramatic difference. I found this particular location to be the best trade of between depth of sound field and bass response in my room. The place where I sit is about 1 - 1.5 ft away from the back wall.
