this current set up is the result of 8 years of swapping out components and i have nver been happier. right now i have no desire to "upgrade" anything. not that i don't think there's better but for the money spent, i think this is hard to beat. odd thing is that all along i always had tube pre/power amp. somehow i stumbled onto this ss stuff and am digging it. i'm a sucker for good soundstaging and where i have ended up shows that.
got this a few years back and it has paid its dues. made many a cd. i love it as a cd player even w/o the copying capabilities. its also nice to have the two seperate drives so i can load two discs and plop my lazy ass down and not have to get up for twice as long.
Rega Planar 2
upgraded the motor. great 'table.
Rega RB-250
just had the incognito cable installed. its great.
Denon DL-160
just got this along w/ my incognito upgrade. best cartridge i have owned. great soundstage and very forgiving of surface noise. sorry the photo is bad.
NAD 1020
really great preamp considering i paid next to nothing for it. the phono stage makes it a real steal.
AMC 2100
my budy got this amp and it was absolutely horrid out of the box. just shrill and harsh- really unlistenable. then a few years later- he loaned it to me when my st-70 was being repaired and since it had broke in it was amazing. i liked it so much i traded him a pair of asl wave 8's for it.
Acoustic Energy aegis 3
really great speakers- soundstage very well and have surprisingly deep bass.
ohhhh.....for about 15 years. before that it was vinyl and cassettes. i have thousands of casettes laying around collecting dust. i often think "what if i would have bought the vinyl instead of the casette?" oh well- i was a teenager and wanted to listen to them in the car.
ummmm....not sure. these photos were taken almost a year ago so there are more now. maybe 2500. not sure. i don't have nuthin' on this guy: http://www.arduman.com/aa/Sayfalar/ari/coll.htm
i decided way back when i had like 20 LP's to put them in plastic sleeves and have kept up w/ it- and am glad that i did. your right- they all retain the condition of which they were when i aquired them.
oh, i listen to everything- but i really enjoy jazz and underground type stuff- but i hate answering genre type questions b/c i really enjoy all types of music. you never really can hear and have enough music on hand. its the spice of life. thanks for looking.
the ae's sound great w/ the amc. like i said in the description- i know there's better out there- but at the same time- this is the best i have ever had. i think the speakers were designed to be driven by an amp like the amc- 100w SS.
the cd's are aphabetical. i listen to anything/everything that sounds good but the bulk is jazz and underground/avant garde/indie rock type stuff- but again- its not limited to that.
