"A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul."
Thanks Shadorne -- I actually have two Bassbusters in the corners and two RoomTunes on the sides of the room. The rear wall has some 3-D art that acts to absorb a bit, and my set up is reasonably near-field (I've recently moved my sitting area closer). I have many more room treatments sitting in the closet that were removed to appease WAF. I still may get some heavy curtains for the windows, and maybe even to cover the projector screen.
At one point I had eight Room lenses, corner tunes, diffusers and absorbers, etc. While the room treatments helped a lot, I've found the Tact room correction to help more in mays that matter to me. I can live with a little slap echo, but tire easily from boomy bass muddying up the mids. To each their own....
I am not familiar with all your gear but it sure looks impressive. I have no doubt it sounds great. The pics and description suggest no acoustic treatments other than the rug - is that still the case? I sense the potential for another "project"...
I just got some Piegas - but little 2-ways: the P4L Mk2. I love them. They like my room and sound absolutely fantastic with my MC240 tube amp. I can't get enough of that ribbon tweeter. One day, when I have room large enough, I will get some TC70X thanks to the sound I have been getting from my little P4s.
I agree they aren't very forward - but I like that. I have my JM Labs when I want forward sound with potent bass.
The Tact seems a good match: 150W/ 8 Ohms, 300 W/4 Ohms. These are actually the C-10ltd also. I'm still adjusting to the difference between these and the Selahs.
The Piegas don't put out quite as deep bass as the specs indicate, at least in my room (maybe they'd need to be closer to the front wall for that). So, I'll continue using my RBH subs and using the Tact 2.2x for sub crossover. At first I missed a little bit of the excitement, 'projection' and dynamic punch that the Selahs produce.
But the Piegas are extremely smooth and refined with plenty of air and detail -- they pull you into the sound in a way the Selahs don't. I'm not sure yet which I like more yet, but the Piegas are growing on me.
How do you find the tact works with the piegas. I have the c10ltd and have loved them. A friend had the aloia and it too was very nice indeed. Looks like a very interesting system overall. Good luck
I'm going to buy a full TacT system, 1 x TacT 2.2XP and 3 x S2150 to tri-amp my B&W 800 matrix. I have two question for you: Do you still use the internal passive x-overs of your Selah louspeakers? Or you use the TacT's digital x-overs? What about the digital lens? I'm very intrested to know if you hear any difference using the genesis DL in TacT chain.
Richards, wonderful system. Did you build the Selahs yourself or did you order them built already? If you built them yourself how difficult was it? I am interested in Ricks speakers but I am hesitant about building them. Thanks
If you like your TacT gear, you'll love it with a upgraded power supply in the 2.2 and some drop in upgrades to the 2150. Check out http://www.aberdeencomponents.com.
