I have been updating and changing out this 2 channel system for just a little over one year. I started out with the smaller MG1.6R maggies and fell in love with their sound. Everything about this system is new to me...and I'm having a blast tweaking it out!!
I also have a great 6.1 home theater system upstairs with Pioneer Elite electronics and HD RPTV, B&W speakers and a huge SVS sub.
Great tip Pummill - never thought about casters. Mine are on small rugs that slide on tile floors (sorta). BTW - meant to tell you what a nice job you did with the room and selection of equipment. In the right room Maggies are tops!
In Magnepan's literature they suggest that placement of the tweeters (inside or outside) is a listener-preference matter. According to them:
"Room acoustics and your own personal tastes will determine whether to position the panels with the tweeters on the inside or outside edge. In most rooms placing them on the outside will give good dimensionality. Placing them on the inside will, in most cases, increase the central focus and improve imaging."
My 20.1s (with Mye Stands) are in a large room and positioned with the tweeters on the outside. It offers a very full encompassing musical presentation. With the Maggies slightly towed in it often sounds as if the center channel was on when, in fact, it is not. Just my experience.
