Hi Uogo,
I have read your post at audioasylum where you were looking for more energy and bass color...
Are you satisfied with the details and color in the bass region now?
I had similar problems with my AN system. I have tried to solve this with tube rolling - replacing components is more expensive :-).
I could not find any tube combination that really work for a long time. After several months of searching I replaced finally the standard Siemens E88CC with the Telefunken in my DAC4.1x. This was the beginning of my happiness. In addition, I use another Telefunken (ECC802S) in my M5-Sig (I have the new M5 version with one 5687 and one ECC82). My experience with Telefunken - excellent dynamics a lot of details and very neutral (even in the bass region). With the Siemens E88CC I was not able to get neutral sound (pretty bad with hard rock). The last step was using the Sylvania 6SN7W (late 40's) chrome top with black base in my Conquests. But I have the WE300B. I have used Sophia Electric Mesh plates about 2 years ago. If you are interested I can share my experience with Sophia with you. But I prefer the Western Electric new production.
I thought I generally do not like bass. But with the new setup the bass sounds excellent, you literally feel the energy. I am very happy with the bass now.
And ALL instruments sound very natural and clear (that's what I prefer).
What tubes do you use in your kits? You can find my system and setup here at audiogon.
If you are not quite satisfied with your system just try another tubes. I could solve all problems with my equipment just with tubes replacement (this is valid for my older setup as well)...
