I would have to echo the above comments regarding involvment of the better half. Mine never really got the whole hobby until I sat her down and started switching out cables and changing the position of the speakers and listening to some of her fav. music. Before long she was making comments regarding 'hearing a hand slide on a fret', or 'I never heard that background vocal before'. Hook, line and sinker. Get the wife involved and listening and the rest should fall into place. I never expect that mine will spend countless hours on A-gon, or sit in the local shop listening to a new cable or speaker, but the acceptance factor is much higher once she sat, enjoyed, and really started to listen.
