Description

I have finally made all the changes to the room. Thank you all for your suggestions I did most of them. I put rivets in every piece of t-bar and there is enough insolation in the ceiling now to insolate the whole house. I still have a slight ratteling problem but I am not to worried about it as I am moving in October anyway, and get to start from scatch again. My next attempt at a theatre room will be more thought out I am already doing the planning.

Actually its a fixed screen with a gray cinema contour screen. I tried a couple different screens pull downs and what not, but I was having trouble with keystoning and the fixed screen fixed it completly I would never go back. But that depends on what the room requirements are. I tried the white screen prior to the one I have now and for the couple of extra dollars to get the gray screen it made a huge difference in the black and white levels I was able to attain.
Let us know what you decide to go with
Cheers Bill.

Bill,

How do you like the Da-Lite Motorized screen. I am looking to purchase the same model and am a little confused to all of the offerings out there.

Thanks-Keith

You has said in another thread that you are re doing your room, and was wondering about the ceiling acoustics.

Auralex has really good acoustic products, They have tiles for the ceiling that will fit right into a drop ceiling. They will also do a free acustic evaluation. I am really happy with there stuff. Go to www.auralex.com and see what you can find. You will need to find a dealer near you. they can help you with that too.

good luck, Love your system !!

Thanks for the interest my room is 12'6" wide by 23' long and only 7'4" to the ceiling. I have had great luck with the sound after a few improvments IE riveting the drop ceiling and more insulation in the ceiling. I also fooled around a lot with setting up the sound stage (with the help of a few very qualified friends) the best for me was locating the front speakers 4 feet from the back wall and 14" in from the side walls and sitting about 9' back. It sounds like your new room will work very well I suspect the 19' ceiling was not helping you out to much. Your new room should fix that problem because you already have some awesome gear to put in it. Let us know how it works out.

Hello Bill, Awsome stuff. What are the dimensions of your room? I am converting my guest room into a listening/HT room. My room is 8'H/13.5'W/18.5'L. My equipment is currently in my living room which is 19'H/20'W/24'L but has all tile floors and leather furinture and sounds terrible. My speakers are B&W N802 L/R, HTM1 C, N804 SL/SR and I am concerned that the room is too small for those speakers. My amplification is nowhwere near the power that you have, B&K 200.5, but from the photos, your room does not look really large. So I am interested in your experience, and anyone elses opinion, with all that power in your room. Thanks for posting your theater for all of us to view.

Great stuff,Bill. Is that the Battlestar Galactica box set on the shelf? I still get a kick watching those campy special effects.

Insulate at the very least around the edges of the room were the ceiling and wall meet for bass trap...of course better to do all ceiling area.

Thank you all for your suggestions I am going to try the rivets in the next few days along with more insolation. I will also look for a Bass tone cd will let you know how it goes.

bill737

I really like the fridge in the back! Nice setup!

Get a Bass tone sweep cd and use it to find the rattles and then you can brace/insulate those tiles. The rivits sounds like a great idea. The insulation on top of the tiles will help firm up the bass also!

cytocycle

Very nice Bill..great for music to! Did you put some insulation above the ceiling tiles also? The in-wall rack looks great also.

bill your theater looks great!!! If you drill a hole at each corner on the T-bars and put pop rivits in to hold the bars together that usually works
