Johnson the sb700 are voice brilliantly , they like ribbon cables and tubes, intruments sounds so real. Well made.I just bought my omega speakers rs8 when I heard them at Axpona, I ordered them on that day. I do like the Kef ls50 as well but the Sb seems more accurate, otherwise both are musical speakers.
The SB-C700 is perhaps the most underrated pc of audio gear in decades.
Place it 24” from the front wall and it rivals anything out there. Pull it further out and it screams bloody murder mid fi. Also they need to have nothing next to them to pull off that huge wide sound stage trick. Hope you still enjoying them.
with the addition of MF 550 supercharger amps mono, this system gives me all the dynamics I can ever asked for. Power just made this system so palpable.
I have replaced my BAT VK500 to a VIVA 300B the result is never ending enjoyable music coming out of my system. The tube sounds,is what the Andra really want. The bloom of the tubes and the romantic feeling is whats makes this system grabs me,when I listen.
Arthur thanks,Yes the table and the Andras they look good in the room, with a complimentary nice music, wow cant wait to bring my girlfriend....in this room.
Hi, I've just ordered two DCCA Eminence pc's from Don. I want to use them with my Acoustic Reality ICEpower based Figaro monobloc amps. Have you auditioned the Eminence or just the Extreme Ref?. Could you describe the sound of the pc: does it have a fluid and organic sound? How about dynamics, treble extension and air, 3D + palpability, etc.? Does it sound relaxed (and laid back) or lively with PRaT? My current pc is the ESP Essence Reference, which is no slouch but can be a bit rough sounding in the lower treble.
By the way Mike thanks,my two channel is separate, I remove the ic to my sony, and then connect it to my DVD, it works though.I do have onother system its pure two channel, Bons second system.
Mike the VD nite are good in digital, but on the amp I have never seen a cable as good as the DCCA product, in your system all you need are the ref1,I will bet you, you will keep them, the VD are descent, but the DCCA made me pay beyond my budget, I have no choice. So far Iam very happy with my VD nite hooked on my SonyModwright9000es,711Smilin really likes this combination.
Beautiful system... nicely balanced....it is pretty cool how you tied in high res 2 channel and ht...
really like the eggleston... heard them at the ces and was floored... totally transparent, dynamics galore, with a incredible disappearing act (important imo) and bat gear is really hard to beat for musicalty, relability, and value.
btw, noticed your impression on the DCCA power cord...mind if i ask what was your impression of the virtual dynamics ???
This is one ,of the most exciting ADDTTION IN MY SYSTEM, THE REF1 EXTREME PC BY DCCA, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, MY SYSTEM JUMPED ONOTHER LEVEL, ITS LIKE I BOUGHT, NEW AMP, MY BAT 500 WITH BAK PAK PERFORMANCE WAS MAXIMIZE.IMS THIS CABLE It improve almost everything, do yourself a favor audition them, you will be surprise, how natural and neutral sounding, they are unfatiguing, and musical, this characterstics is very hard to achieve,DCCA do just that.
Walt, so far Mark our friend, and I are the only, two who shed tears on this,He listen to my system, and said cant listen to His system again, I am guilty again. TVAD and Steve were also in my house,Congrats on your new Andra II work hard on them, they are truly excellent speakers,I am glad you have a chance to see my humble system, this is the room where I spend a lot of time. Best regards to you also. Bon
Your room and system looks wonderful. I notice you keep a box of kleenex on the coffee table. I guess after enough people cried tears of joy upon listening it pays to keep them handy. Hope you have a happy fourth.
Thank you so much for the comments, Bon. We had some invaluable recommendations from a couple of Audiogon members, and that helped us to put our system together without a lot of fuss. We're quite happy with it, and are really excited to get our Klipschorn speakers next week.
On that note, I've heard a lot of speakers over the past couple years, and those Eggleston Works are still stuck in my mind. And I'm hearing only enthusiastic comments for the Modwright 9000ES. If I ever get to Chicago, I'm coming over! Howard
