(check out my system online)
Nordost El Dorado Powercord for your GamuT amp will really help out the low frequencies amd dynamics of the amp.
Ayre K-3X preamp sounds abolutley amazing with my GamuT amp. It is hard to believe they were not made to go together.
Ayre CDX-7 CD Player, I must say that I have never heard the GamuT CDP; however, I have heard that the GamuT seriously rolls off below 40hz (this can really screw up tonal balance IMHO). Anyway, I would look at demoing the Ayre CDP. All I can say is it is very VERY good. To really get objectively better sound than the Cary in a one box machine, I think you really have to move up to an $8k Wadia player. I had a Cary 306/200 CDP, and I replaced it with this Ayre... and all I can say is that I have no regrets at all. The Ayre beats the Cary 306/200 ($5k retail) sonically hands down.
Another upgrade that I would like to make down the line is a PS Audio 600 AC regenerator. I ran my GamuT into my P300 and the GamuT absolutely loved it (right up until it tripped the circuit protection). Many people do not recommend plugging amps ito the PS Audio gear (as opposed to straight into the wall). All I have to say is do not knock it until you try it. My GamuT sounds better to me plugged into my PS Audio UO (20 amp) than straight into the wall. It sounded even better plugged into my PS300.
Anyway, good to see another GamuT fan.
Sincerely,
KF
