Finally got around to updating this posting on the system. The AG3000 is replaced by the new top dog in BC's line, the fabulous BC303-DWBB, yes.. that secondary large chassis is in fact the outboard PSU for the pre !
Have also re-arranged the room, and the Parsifal woofer is now in the more desireable rear firing arrangement.
Oh... and stand by for some front end changes in process too.
Not a 31.5.. but close ! connected to the 360 via ST glass fibre
Levinson No-360S
Still a superb sounding DAC.
Blue Circle Audio BC303-DWBB
One of the finest pre's on the planet. Fully balanced, dual mono, 4 volume controls !, 2 inputs. Yes, the big box on the side is the power supply for the pre !!
Blue Circle Audio BC206
Next generation reference hybrid stereo amp from BC
Blue Circle BC62
Several of these throughout the system.. Excellent value power cord.
Gutwire C-Clef
Excellent power cord, feeds the Music Ring 1200.
Blue Circle Audio MR1200
Awesome on the source gear.
Gutwire MaxCon
Terrific passive filter for the BC206 and Logan Ascents.
Magnum Dynalab MD-102T
Excellent sounding tuner, good in metro area.
Transparent Balanced music link Ultra MM
Expensive... worth it.. end of story. I use it between dac and pre, and also between pre and power amp.
Transparent Music Wave SuperXL Bi-Wire
See interconnects... great match with the Ascents.
Verity Parsifal Ovation
Astonishing speaker, compact dimensions belie the music this speaker can convey.
System edited: Finally got around to making some changes on here. The pre is replaced, the stands are replaced by Cambre CORE stands, and the system has been re-oriented within the room as well. All for the better. The "bliss" factor is really high now.
Beautiful system! I'm currently pleased with my Dynaudio C2's, but if I ever do make another change, the Verity Parsifal Encore's are at the top of my list.
Islandear, the match with the 206 and the Verity's was certainly a bit of concern for me, as I sort of went on "blind faith" knowing the character of the Parsifal from many (MANY) listening sessions, and of course knowing the 206 inside out. It has worked out largely as I expected, now pretty much beyond the (killer) break-in cycle on the Verity's, they are giving me the sound I know they are capable of. To be perfectly honest, the marriage between the 206 and Parsifal yields a sound that moves more towards the "beautiful" side, than the "honesty" side of things. Now, having said this, let me be clear. Even the smallest change upstream is reflected with full disclosure. So, there's still a level of honesty to the beauty ! LOL.. The system is now in yet another state of flux, as I've got Gilbert busy working on the next generation "statement level" pre-amp to replace the AG3000. Can't wait to get this one up and running, should be just in time for the fall listening season... yahoo ! :-) As for the moniker change.. yeah, you're right.. Krell is VERY far off my radar screen these days.
BPK, Gilbert suggested that I contact you at the BC forum, but since I found you here...
I own Parsifal Encores and have been auditioning amps off-site. Living in the NW I haven't had the chance to listen to the 206. Can you give me your impressions of the BC/Verity marriage?
BTW, shouldn't your username now be BigpoppaBC? LOL
Lind, Since the picture was taken, I've managed to rotate the woofer to the rear. I found that during the run-in period, the bass was a bit "woobly" but it settles down tremendously after a VERY long run-in cycle. I also updated my speaker cables to Transparent UltraMM level, (after turning the woofer cabinet) and this really has put the icing on the cake. The room is about 23ft long, by 11.5 ft wide. Obviously I've got them on the long wall firing across. After a few discussions with Verity, we came to the conclusion that a solarium opening at the one end of the short wall would aggrevate things a bit.
I to own Verity Audio Parsifal Ovations and was curious as to you personal results on the woofer cabinet firing forward versus toward the rear? Although I cannot tell the length, your room layout is similar to mine. Thank you.
Actually, I've been using Transparent Cabling long before the BC gear found it's way into my house. I've always had great success, and excellent sonics with it in my rig, so it just happened to be sheer dumb luck that the synergy continued when I moved into BC product.
Impressive system. I've yet to hear the BC '200 series myself but all accounts I've read it's a substantial step up from the BC8's. My better half would love it if I retired my monoblocks but no such luck yet.
Very nice system. I've never heard the Blue Circle equipment, but if it sounds good with your Martin Logan's it must be nice. I own the 360s what a great DAC and transport.
