I never dreamed of having such a sophisticated sound system. Fortunately for me, a friend was upgrading his whole system and we were able to make a deal on this one. I added the Apple TV and Hegel DAC and I was good to go. Lucky me.
Apple's latest version of the Apple TV streams audio files from my PC via WiFi.
Hegel HD10
Made in Norway, this DAC is relatively unknown in USA. True balanced, 24/192 capable. Four inputs including USB, Optical and two coax. So far, I am really enjoying it.
Balanced Audio REX
Top of the line BAT Rex tube preamp. This component is unbelievably sophisticated.
Electrostatic speakers with two subwoofers in base of each.
Nordost Valhalla
XLR terminated state of the art cables
Nordost Valhalla
Ribbon speaker cables
Shunyata Hydra 8
Power conditioner extraordinaire.
Edsal DIY
This is a heavy duty shelving rack made by Edsal. I had a 3/8 glass shelf made to fit the footprint of each component. These glass shelves sit on Vibrapods which sit on the shelves of the Edsal unit. I will upgrade at some point, but for now this seems to be working.
Try Empirical Audio Synchro-mesh reclocker between your AppleTV and DAC. You would be very surprised what you have been missing. Please don't walk, run. It costs $600, but with your gears, you will feel like $2000 improvement.
