Description

was looking for an all around system for both music and ht with a budget of about 4,000.

the paradigm studio 60's and anthem 225 are a great match. still need to investigate some cables once funds are available.

the source is a mac mini with apple loseless music piped to a musical fidelity v-dac. i use both vnc and apple remote to control the music.

Components Toggle details

    • Musical Fidelity V-DAC
Nice little DAC for the money
    • Apple Mac Mini
    120 Gb, 2Gb RAM
    • Anthem Anthem Integrated 225
very clean and smooth treble, great bass, and the headphone amp is particularly good. great system match with the paradigm 60's
    • Paradigm Studio 60 v5
great treble and midrange.. i listened to wilson sophia 2's side by side with 100's and 60's, and except for the low end, the paradigms were right there with them.
    • Lifatech Silflex Glass Toslink mini
improved the bass response and immediacy of the DAC.
    • SBooth AyreWave player
Added at the same time as the Silflex Glass Toslink cables. Not sure which one made the bigger difference, but combined they sound better than my previous system.

System edited: added Silflex Glass Toslink cable from Mac Mini to DAC and Ayrewave. With the addition of these two components, I'm getting better bass response and immediacy, as well as automatic sample rate switching from 16/44 to 24/96.

@Jayb77 - another question, i see some listings for terminator 4 and terminator 3 speakers cables on a'gon and ebay. are the 3's or 4's any better or worse than 2's?

@Milpai - thanks for the reference to signal cables... do you recommend bi-wiring to the speakers whenever possible? did it make a difference on your system?

@Jayb77 - thanks for the tip, i will definitely look them up.
I thought MIT cables were all mega-bucks, so they were never on the radar for me. nice system btw.
