This is in our 15x25 living room with a vaulted ceiling. We listening to lots of rock, acoustic, indie, jazz, electronic, and hip-hop so this needed to do it all. We run our TV and DVD through, it but don't care about HTS. It's our first foray into audiophilia and it's been a great ride so far.
Switched from Dynaudio Audience 52SE monitors. Wanted more musical presentation and less fatigue. Loved the 1.6, but lost to WAF. These were such a steal. May look at the 12 later, but for now, I'm completely satisfied.
Rogue Audio Perseus Magnum
I love this for it's simple, stylish design and warm tube sound. Lots of guts. Let's the low stuff through while really making the highs visceral. Multi-source, HT passthrough, remote contol for volume. I recently had Mark at Rogue upgrade this to the Magnum version and install some GE tubes in it. It's well worth the extra expense. Deeper bass, crisper highs, and a much lower noise floor which lets much more detail through.
Quad U S A 909
140 wpc, 250 wpc @ 4 ohms. Current dumping. Does a great job with my Dynes (read: current hungry). Nice bass on rock, rap, and jazz. Really like the clean British sound.
Audience Conductor 'e'
14ft. Big improvement over my giant-killer Tara Prism bi-wire.
REL Acoustics R-305
10' forward firing. Nice clean look. Corner-placed. Really loads the room and fills out where the Dyne monitors roll off. Something magic about a REL. Music Direct calls it possibly the best REL ever.
Audience Maestro
1m. Good for now. From source to pre. Lots of depth and detail. Lacks a bit of the air that Tara cables have, but makes up for it in overall musicality.
Audience Conductor
1m. From pre to power amps. Very nice!
Audience AR1P
Great power conditioner. Immediate different. Lowered the noise floor. Cleaned things up.
Oyaide SWO-GX
AC Receptacle. Can't hurt, right? Installed at same time as AR1P. Together the difference was noticeable.
Cable Pro Revelation II
Power strip. One of my first tweaks before the AC and conditioner. Big difference.
System edited: My Sony ES source died so I'm using an old "standard" Sony using a Musical Fidelity DAC. Not too bad, but the transport really does make a difference. Also switched out one Tara IC for an Audience Conductor. Hope for the other soon. Finally, switched out speakers. Really like the planar sound. Took awhile to grow on me, but really does what my ears want at this juncture. I love the opportunities to mod the Maggies and even with the expenses associated with that, they are still much cheaper than any box speaker that sounds as good.
