Audio needs become more transparant, more fair. In the last months I did a few tests between Audioquest and MIT cables. The difference are too big, to be honest. MIT is only using copper. In the world of highend silver is important. Why? Because it places more air and space between all the parts on a recording. Individual focus is better and you can hear more different layers in the low. freq. When you do not use this, you get a less higher level in sound. I have shown this to a few people in the last few months. This is not about a brand, but about quality you can or should I say should have gotten. I have done thousends of tests with cables. It is a thing I love to do. Maybe I do this for a living, at the end I want my clients to get the best possible. Audio needs to become more clear and fair to music lovers who love good audio. Because people who work in audio need to give them more falue for money. It is that easy!
Today we did the tests with the Audioquest XLR,Colorado, Niagra and Sky. And the Purist Audio powercables. The difference is so big that I even Think that MIT is sleeping. We are talking about superior differences. There is a lot more detail and decay. Low freq. are a lot faster, controlled but also so much better focussed. You go from a 2 dimensional voice to a 3-dimensional voice. Every single part you Judge these cables for Audioquest does it better with ease. I sold MIT for over 6 years, but when I listen this difference in quality I could not sell it to my clients anymore to be honnest.
I see you have a MIT Magnum M2 loudspeakercable. This was the one which we compared to the Audioquest Oak. The Oak was superior in every singel part you Judge a cable for. More drive, speed, better blacks, resolution and a much sharper focus of instruments and voices. This Saturday I will go to the client with different AQ cables and powercables from Purist Audio. He already has the Audioquest Redwood bi-wire at home.
Next apointment with the client I will take different AQ interconnects with me to compare with his MIT interconnects. I also will bring in a few Purist Audio powercables to compare with his MIT powercables. And I will bring in a conditioner. Yesterday he heard many new things what is missing in his set. Now it is more easy to understand what I will do with his own system. I will change one part at the time to make it more easy to understand.
Today the client comes to my house for listening. MIT has not the properties you need when you use Avalon and Spectral. Compare it to the better AQ. These will give you more details. The silver which is used by AQ is superior to any copper. There is more air and details. MIT is just copper. The difference in sharpness in focus and a palpable image is huge. I never heard a touchable sharp focus as in real with all the Avalon and spectral demos in my life. There were a lot. Always the same fault. Maybe they improve there cables ( I hope they will) but the difference between MIT and AQ is too big. The person who sells MIT Oracle in Holland said that AQ is a big step further than MIT at this moment. And that is the truth. People have to learn to look further. To be honnest it is so easy to give MIT cables a lesson with AQ cables. Spectral with MIT and Avalon is in my opinion incomplete. You miss essential parts which need to be there in the world of highend. I have proven this with cables and also with amps and speakers.
I visited the client with the Audioquest Redwood and the Olive 06HD. The Redwood gives superior intimate sound compared to MIT in general. He also uses a lot of MIT interconnects. His preamp is the Audio Research 5SE and his speakers are from Isophon. I invited him to come to me soon. MIT is in my experience not a good combination with Spectral. You never will get a realistic palpable image as in real. All the demos and people who used Spectral I visited had the same limitations . That is why I invite him to make him understand what is missing.
Next week I will visit a client with Spectral gear. I will bring in the Audioquest Redwood 2013 and the 06HD from Olive. I will inform you how it works togheter. The new Audioquest cables also have a very deep and wide stage. But the difference with MIT is a much more palpable and realistic image of the right dimensions of instruments and voices.
I sold and owned MIT in the past. To be honnest there cables are ok, but Audioquest is a big step further in technique compared to MIT. I recently bought the brand new Audioquest Wild blue Yonder with the new XLR connectors. This pure silver cable is superior to MIT ORACLE MATRIX 50. Silver is more open and faster than copper ever will be. The Audioquest is also superior in what we call 'blacks' this makes instruments more intimate and palpable. Instruments and voices are very small in dimension in real. MIT makes the instruments often too big in proportion. I had conversations about this issue often with a couple of brands in audio. Just try the new Wild blue yonder and compare it.
The difference is you will get a more open and musical mid freq. The instruments and voices are so much sharper focussed. And the timing and drive is better compared to MIT. The DBS gives you ther best blacks I heard sofar. My 2013 Redwood was even superior in speed and timing than my old Valhalla from Nordost.
a few months ago I sold a Audioquest Oak to a client of mine who Always uses only MIT cables. He also has Avalon speakers. The difference was extreme. Every aspect it did better. In Holland a shop who sells the most Oracle of our country is now also Audioquest dealer. They said: Audioquest is a big step further compared to all there competitors. It is better than MIT at this moment. Wenn you have a possibility.....just try. Nothing more, nothing less.
I do consulting in sound and vision. And I am in this business since 1998. I sold Avalon and MIT in the past for over 6 years. I know the properties very well. Avalon is a speaker with a very deep stage. Acoustic music in real is very small in proportion and extreemly direct. A friend of mine had a small concert room with a Steynway. Here I learned how small a voice and instruments sounds. All the times I litstend to Avalon with MIT and spectral instruments never are extreemly that focussed as in real. MIT is a brand with the property to make a big and wide stage. But the individual focus is not that sharp. There are brands like Audioquest and Kimber who are superior in individual focus. Many times I showed ( even at shows) that MIT is not a perfect match with Avalon. People have to learn how voices and instruments sounds in real. Wenn you hear a violin in real aor play it with a avalon speakerset you will hear the big difference in sound.
