Tboooe, stereo unlimted in San Diego has a pair of Elipsa in their showroom. May want to check them out. Although, im interested what Capitola has to say myself.
Thanks for reminding me of your post here on the 801's Mark!..Love the look of the 801's in the wood finish(Walnut?) Better than my Black. Very nice! I will definately try to check out the North Creek version, but yeah, may be too pricey afterall. I will be enjoying this speaker for quite a while!
I still have mine and love them. I've had them about 2 years. I bought them without stands or the bass alignment filter but bought both since. I got the Sound Anchor stands mostly because they were priced right. The bass alignment filter is still available from B&W. Both improved the sound. The stands seemed to give more focus to the bass, while the BAF helped everywhere. I'm not sure why. The BAF is not the ideal solution since it adds another interconnect but was still worth it. I would really like to replace the crossovers with the North Creek versions but they cost almost as much as I paid for the speakers. I don't know much about the VR's but the 801's need big amps to get the good bass. They also sound a lot better at higher volumes.
I have a post on ever evolving under my audiogon name. It is listed as "Musically Satisfying!"...I wanted to e mail you because I saw your system and the 801's..very nice. As it turns out for me...my Dad is practically giving me his 801 S2's in Black finish. They have the Van Al. inductor upgrade fix.. but no bass alignment filter, and have the full Arcici stands. I really liked them and will try them out next to me newer Von Schweikert VR2's that are so popular. The VR's are indeed a great speaker and have awesome bass...but I think the 801's will be more smooth and better dynamically. Just wondering if you still have yours and how your likeing them?
Would you be interested in selling your Nakamichi PA-7AII amplifier? I am looking for one in very good to near mint condition. I am very serious about getting one and would pay what it is worth.
