This is my livingroom system. it has been through a lot of changes. Went from 14 watt tube monoblock amps feeding LaScalas to Threshold SA 3.9e class A and B&W CDM1 NTs. Now I caught the Linn bug. I am running a biamp system now and ti has cleaned up things a lot.
I use air tunes with itunes most of the time. I can control music from an iphone too.
With internal rewire to cardas DIN and structural mod. External wire is Mogami Dual Quad
Apple Apple TV II
I just replaced the old apple TV with the new one.
PS Audio DigitalLink III
Nice DAC, tons of slam and detail!
NeoTech 12095
UP-OFC
Threshold FET Two sII
This is a great sounding JFET based preamplifier designed my Nelson Pass. It is very warm and detailed sounding with incredible depth of soudstage. It has a phono stage too. I had Jon Soderberg update it with Black Gate caps. I have bypassed the balance control.
NeoTech Pure Silver interconnect
These go from the pre to the amp
Linn LK-85
These sound really, really great. I am curious how good the LK-140s sound.
System edited: I have switched to a pair of Linn LK-85s feeding the B&Ws. The extra power has been a godsend. I am not getting the distortion in the highs I was getting with digital material before.
System edited: I got a new DAC and some new interconnects (I am all silver now). I am quite happy with the sound. I think that with Digital is is very difficult to get perfect smoothness and detail on a budget. I have been ripping files in lossless and I still get some etch on some tracks. I wonder if it is inherent in the original production, my DAC is not up to snuff, or those Nautilus tweeters can't handle the some material. All I know is that this system handles everything with a lot of openness and is nice to listen to. My other system is just a computer to a Apogee Duet, to a Cairn Class A integrated to some Linn Tukans, which is a killer rig, but has a different sound and it is not as open and engaging.
I am also looking to get a new DAC but I have no idea what to get. I wish the ATV had a coax out, that would give more options. I really like how the Apogee sounds but hate that it has to be tied to my computer.
System edited: Added a Apogee Duet for ripping Vinyl. It is a very nice sounding DAC/ADC. Interestingly enough, the CJ DAC still sounds great. It has a much warmer sound than the Apogee and is very pleasing to listen to.
System edited: I made some cable changes and changed subwoofers. I am getting an Apogee Duet this week for ripping vinyl. This will be a good opportunity to see if I am missing anything withe the CJ DAC. I am quite happy with the sound of the system, it is easy on the eyes, and I like the ergonomics as well.
