Seriously??? You've got a very inexpensive 3.5 watt flea power tube amp and you're thinking that tube amps don't have slam, is that right?? This not to mention that you skimped on the tube preamp as well. I don't know what you expected but this is NOT the kind of amplification you can expect to provide any semblance of "slam."

If you really want the sweetness of tubes with slam and extension at the frequency extremes you ought to to to a 30 to 50 watt per channel push-pull tube amp (EL34 or KT88). Buy an integrated model and you won't need a preamp. This ought to be a revelation since the Tekton Lores have great potential. These types of amps can be bought on Audiogon for between about $450 and $800 typically.

You can try solid-state, but in your price range I doubt that you'll be happy with the results on the Lores.

Good Luck!
