My current setup merits a little explanation. I'm moving out of my apartment in a few days but I needed to move most of my stuff out a couple days early. I decided I'd keep my system and a sleeping bag, hence the "minimal" presentation.
I love the synergy my components have. The Exposure, Neats and Phonomena are all extremely detailed and there's a lot of air and space to the music.
In this particular set-up, totally alone in a 12x14 hardwood room it's... boomy. Properly set-up, though, it images like a dream. The Neats have extraordinary tone too. Great bass control and presentation.
Next steps will probably be an upgrade of the turntable or cartridge, followed by a streaming solution. I'm also not very fond of the Kimber 4PRs, I think they're a little too laid back. Any suggestions would be welcome.
I have kimber 4 also and like you looking to upgrade. I went to usedcable.com for a consultation based on my system. Perhaps i suggest you do the same. I listen to vinyl mostly, but have been getting into hires tracks. I use a mac mini for the music server, audioquest usb to simaudio 100d dac via audioquest to my simaudio 600i. Seems to work great. Honestly at times sounds better than vinyl, but thats just because i have a entry level TT and phonostage. Hope that helps.
