This is a budget system, which has been going strong since 1993 when I purchased the primary components. The integrated and speakers are now a well known combo.
I have added the Phonomena II phono stage, which was kindly customized by Micheal Yee for me, and some DIY speaker cables which are an amazing improvement. The AT150MLX is sounding best at 128pF and 62K loading. So if you have the mind to work with alternate loading on an MM cart, or venture into DIY cable making, I ll give you a strong endorsement based on my results.
Dont believe people who say this cartridge is bright.
Musical Surroundings Phonomena II
Solid-state, no op-amp, class A phono stage customized by Micheal Yee.
Incognito Copper Tone Arm Wire
Copper rewire for the RB300.
Pete Rigel Counterweight for the Common Man
Inexpensive and effective. Pete is a peach.
Oppo DV-980H
This is an all-in-one spinner with a tip of the hat toward the audio. Give it a little help with vibration isolation and it has amazing potential, evidenced by the mod culture it has quickly produced.
Morrow Audio MA1
Basic Morrow Audio interconnect with a high purity copper core, silver coated, teflon jacket.
System edited: New phono stage with custom capacitance and loading option thanks to Micheal Yee, and DIY speaker cables have greatly improved my primary souce. Now for winter
Not too bad, which is to say, rather well. It is a 30 watt Class A. I have had a few different sets of tubes, which tend to change the characteristics.
All I can say is that I shopped for more than two years before I bought, and it was this amp and speaker combo that prompted me to buy.
I suspect more would overwhelm the 1Bs. It is particularly nice at lower volumes. I would pair them with a fairly analytical source.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you want a more detailed description.
