finished my office/listening/theater area. sounds great. padded carpet tiles on the floor help with sound and speaker placement. walls are 2x6 framed within the existing room with 2 layers of blown in insulation separated by a vapor barrier. insulated 5/8" gyp. board ceiling on hat channels. makes for one quiet room. looking for unique and modern solutions for sound panels. room size is 12' x 16' x 7'6" high.
i was running an audio research tube amp with these proac's before, now some of the magic is gone, thinking of switching to different monitors with more bottom end. any suggestions appreciated. thanks
System edited: well after selling all my 2ch amps and finishing my theater system (all Rotel) i figured that the Rotel would sound good enough for my turntable, i was wrong. so.....i went out and built a small 2ch set up to share the Monitor Audio RX2's, now i have it all.
That's quite a nice setup you've got! I too have (and love), a Digital Link III... and now am hunting/saving for some Trio series gear ;-)
Depending on how handy you are (and your access to tools/work space), you should be able to make some of your own acoustic panels pretty cheap; and if you make them, they can be able color/shape/style you want
With all your nice PS Audio gear I see a GCPH phono stage in your future. I used to own it an it is an amazing piece. Nice Monitor Audio and MH too. In fact you have assembled a nicely balanced kit. Love it!
Tiggerfc- coming from the smaller woofer on the proac's these MA's power thru my electronic music but lack the warm sweet sound at lower volume of my proacs on more vocal music but that was to be expected, i dont feel that i can over drive these without waking the neighbors first. overall i like them as a great all type of music speaker.
Jimbojrjb- i picked up that stand from a local store, its by Boconcept. www.boconcept.com they do modular type furniture in different finishes, its very sturdy, can hold over 200lbs.
Jupiterfish... I like it. Nice and simple and well integrated. I'm using MA GS10s at the moment. They're quite smooth but was always curious about the RX2s. Maybe as a replacement or a second system. Now that you've had them a few months, what are your impressions? My local dealer with sell them but lord knows they won't put any on display for audition. Looks nice, btw!
Wow! Spectacular. Love it. A man after my own heart. Looks AND function. Excellent speaker choice. I'm a big MA fan. The RX line is unbeatable for the price. And man do those white cabinets look sexy in that environment! Nice job :)
BTW, recently switched to the latest Apple TV myself. Brilliant!
What are your thoughts on the Monitor Audio's? I have an older pair from the mid 90's and was curious of your thoughts on the newer generation. I am thinking of picking up a pair myself.
Nice basement & system. You have great taste in budget TT's as well *wink.* Those ProAc's synergize beautifully with Audio Research amplification but you're probably right in contemplating another monitor if you're sticking with the PS Audio amp; the Tablette's are pretty revealing. Perhaps a less analytical speaker with a sweeter treble like the Quad 12L2? The Quad's have great coherence and loads of great bass. Maybe a pair of Duevel Planets - I love mine. One more thing, have you tried pulling your chair & speakers away from the front/rear walls? It could greatly ameliorate some of your acoustic issues as could angling/rotating your whole setup axis to one side or the other 10 to 15 degrees or so.
