Bought this stuff off the shelf in 1985 with two ideas in my head. Best TurnTable I could afford to protect my records and the best speakers I could afford to reproduce the music with accuracy. In the same Price range were Klipch Heresy unfinised pine, Polk Audio's red woofers were $100 less and Bose 901 were $100 more. As Joseph of Arimathia said to Indiana Jones ! You have choosen wisely. All equipment has been maintained to runs at specifications and still sounds so Good today !
These JBL 240Ti are a full frequency response 3way loud speaker 37 Hz to 27kHZ flat. With a efficency rating of 89db their rated maxiumum is 300 watts per channel. I hardly push them at all with 130 rms. The Teak cabinets are truly beautiful to behold. Each speaker of this matched pair contains a 14" Woofer, a 5" midrange and a I" Dome Titanium Tweeter. Now if I could find a pair of 250's in teak for the Loft I would be set.

Ortofon OM-30 Super

Empire EDR.9 Moving Magnet
This Vintage Moving Magnet Cartridge came highly recommended for good reason. Out of the box the EDR.9 delivers sound that is in another class of sound reproduction from the respected Ortofon OM-30 Super that I enjoyed untill now . Cole Porter wrote Night and Day - thats is exactly the difference between these two cartridges. The Empire EDR.9 gives more definition and clarity, opening up a wider and higher soundstage full of more precise detail and lush sounds. This cartridges more than 25 year old design may be the best MM cartridge in its class and it is an understatment to say it is an outstanding value. I have been told this Empire EDR.9 outperforms many MC Cartridges costing 5 times the price paid. I believe it. Rather then adding a phono stage or step up transformer to the audio chain, if you do not have an MC input on your system the MM Empire EDR.9 is a great choice. BTW Although this cartridge was manufactured 3 miles from where I grew up, I had to send to France to find one! Still a bargin, thanks Raul !
