I use an Aragon 4004 for the mids and tweete and a 350w carver for the woofers on my VMPS (FFESRE WITH oatboard VMPS cross-over and I am pretty happy with it, although Carver gets no respect it really is a good bass amp. The cool thing about the Carver is it doesnt limit Voltage or current so it can get dynamic peaks off well over 500w.
My on-going project is to really get my room accoustics in order before I do any equipment upgrades. As a fellow VMPS owner aswell as also being disabled...nice to meet you!

Well, I guess I considered it a relatively "budget" system, when I see people spending 1000's of $'s on interconnects or $10k+ for a CDP! I suppose its all relative, though. I sold off the Cary V12R. It was cool looking but it just doesnt seem to be real compatible with the RM40's which seem to like a lot of current. Plus, the stupid Cary unit was always blowing fuses, tubes, etc.,. For me, it just wasnt worth it. It sounds just as good with the lowly Sunfire (although I would like to try some better SS amplification at some point, just to see what the VMPS can do - I'm leaning toward those Odyssey Extreme Monos, or maybe a PASS 250 or 350 if I can get the cash together).

Hell yea it isnt a budget system, but like mine posted here it depends on your budget, like mine will always be till I can afford atleast $50,000 lol

Entry Level? Ah. come on. That system rules. Great taste in electronics and speakers. Enjoy!

System edited: System edited on 2/26/05 to reflect addition of the MF A308cr CDP, the Sunfire Amp, and a CI passive volume control.

Thanks, I like color too! I got tired of doing wood projects and using the same types of wood varnish and stains, so I thought I would add some color. After sanding the maple for weeks, I went to Home Depot and had them mix up a color they call "Bubble Gum." Used about three coats of that and then did about six or seven coats of clear gloss stain, sanding between each. The color works well with my pink (ok, dusty rose) carpet, and watercolor collection.

System Update:

I now have a Sunfire Symphonic Reference bi-amped with my Cary V12R. The Cary runs the highs and the Sunfire runs the lows (which is only from 28hz to about 166hz). Even with the Cary in 100 watt mode, it had problems controlling the bass. This works out much, much better.

I am now using a Channel Islands passive to control volume matching between the Cary and the Sunfire.

My Rotel 991 CDP (which I loved and is a great used player) has been replaced by the Musical Fidelity A308cr.

nice system very complete colerful to.

Ahh, that does make sense.

I always thought that Rotel CD players were unrated in the audiophile commnuity. I used to own one and now miss it.

Actually, there is a logical reason for that. I am in a wheelchair and I have a hard time getting to the top of that shelf. It is much easier to toss in a CD on the CDP, than trying to manipulate a tonearm across a record!

Nice system, wondering how you like the Cary V12,and what kinds of music do you listen to,

raytheprinter

Nice system, but I find it interesting that you put your turntable in between shelves and your front loading CD player on the top shelf.

Enjoy your system!
