I have a dedicated home cinema/TV room. That is where the family watches TV and movies. The system there is completely different. The two channel system I have described here is in the living room. The living room adjoins the kitchen and dining room. That means the room doesn t close. The room has two big windows. The windows are a double edged sword as sound hardening reflective surfaces when closed and great in dispersing sound when open. So, the system sounds better in summer than in winter! In any case, the room is on the live side of neutral. The big rug on the floor helps.
The Sound
The system churns out loads of detail. I have used other (brighter) amplifiers and the Vincents presentation seems to be on the darker side. Im still making up my mind about this that is, whether I like it better than my other amplifiers (Primaluna Prologue II and Valve Audio Predator).
The bass is articulate and agile, although there is plenty of it. There would be even more if I didnt move the speakers into the room.
Tweak Effect
The tweaks help in giving the sound a more relaxed presentation. It tightens the bass as well. Bi-wiring the speakers further tightens the bass and the overall presentation seems taut. The bookshelf and the sound panels open up the sound even further.
Digital v Analogue
Previously unlistenable discs appear to be more inviting. Small sound stages remain that way. Bigger soundstages remain that way. Better produced discs shine. LPs sound open, transparent and detailed. Sometimes I think they sound better than the cds at least some cds anyway.
The Music
Its very easy to forget this. But it all started with the music. On this system, the music moves me. The music is mostly jazz and a bit of soul, R & B and classical.
