I really love my system. Its not a system that reproduces music on a huge, realistic scale, like Martin Logan or Wilson speakers, but vocals are draped in velvet, and you feel drawn in to the performance, regardless of genre.
Excellent questions and observations. Its obvious you are going about this very intelligently.
My room is 8 by 11. The speakers are roughly 6 feet apart. listening position is about 8 feet away MAX. Maybe closer.
Interestingly, since this pic was taken, I have actually moved the speakers further away from the back wall by about a foot. I have also reduced toe in very slightly.
By the way, my ear is just at, or slightly below tweeter level. According to Alan Shaw, he voiced the tweeter from that position and say you will get the flatest response that way.
Missteps?!! Funny you should ask. I was using Kimber 4tc speaker cable and i found them flat, lacking dimension, and not a good fit. I am using silver plated OFC QED cables too, but may switch over to Transparent down the road, as I think their interconnects are fantasic.
I did play around with home made room treatments and settled on a tapestry on the wall behind my listening chair which has improved things quite a bit.
Let me tell you, these speakers are very natural and musical. If I could, I would certainly give them as much room as I could, further away from all boundries, but they work well in any situation.
