Description

I completely revamped my system in the last few months. With the help of Tweak Studios in Chicago, I have put together a spacious, detailed and musical system. I especially like the synergy between Burmester amps and the Elac speakers. I listen mostly to pop/rock. Like Indie or Alternative the best. This system does well with that genre where the recordings may not be the best.

    • Bryston BDA-2
The newest DAC from Bryston. I have the Bryston BDP-2 Music Server feeding it.
    • Burmester 082 Integrated Amp 082
Nice looking, user friendly, and great sounding integrated. Pairs very well with Elac.
    • Electroacoustic (Elac) FS 249 Black Edition
I'm a big Elac Fan. I really like this speakers ability to scale up with better electronics and cables.
    • Vertere Pulse X
Best Sounding Speaker Cable I have heard. Check out the reviews. Vertere is a new company.
    • Burmester XLR XLR
I got this to pair with the Burmester 082. I may look at other IC's to see if there can be any improvements. My power cords are Lessloss.
    • ISO-Tek Power Conditioner Titan
This is one of the few I have been able to plug amps into and have it sound better then the wall.

You may want to wait and see on Elac. Andrew Jones just started with them, word is from the Newport show is that his 229.00 new Elac design was a real show stopper. It will be very interesting to see what he does with new designs higher up the line. Where are you located? I know there is a dealer in Chicago and another one in Utah.

I need to update my system page. I will in a couple of weeks, I have gone to Burmester separates and I upgraded to the Elac FS 409s. In my experience the Elacs can sound all over the place, meaning they tend to sound like what you pair them with. I prefer a smoother sound instead of bright and hard, so I have geared my system that way. There is a main Elac thread here on Agon with some good information. I have tried dozens of speakers including Tidal Pianos Fritz, WLM, Monitor Audio, Amphion, Dali, Green Mountain, Paradigm, AAD, Newform Research, and Von Schweikerts. I auditioned Pioneer, Proac and Spendor. I will admit what attracted me to Elac was their looks. The great thing about Elac is they have the ability to scale up big time, there is a couple of professional reviews that confirm this as well. So if you put great gear in front of them, or gear that synergizes with them they will sound fantastic.

As far as my room, I'm not sure. I took those traps down, and do not really notice much of a difference.

Thanks. At the Newport Show recently, they paired the very expensive Burmester 911 MK II 2 channel amp with the Elac FS 247 BE (even cheaper then the 249s). So even though the ratio may appear out of whack, it does work very well. The reason for this is this particular speaker line has a higher ability to scale up with better electronics, I mean more so then other speakers.

Think I should put some Still Points under some of the gear? Also, my Integrated amp is on top of the rack, isn't best do have amps on the bottom? If so why? Mine won't fit on this rack but I would be open to getting a new rack if necessary. Thanks
