Ozzy, I understand that you picked up an Oppo BDP-95. If that's true how is it working for you?
Just sold my PS Audio Perfectwave gear. I've got a hot-rodded BDP-83SE which sounds pretty good, but I want better. Thinking about the 95 and possibly a mod to go along with it. I like the idea of attaching my music library to thee Oppo as well as playing my SACD's and as a bonus, 3D TV when the mood arises.
I've purchased wire from ebay just as you had. I was looking for a different type of wire, a different recipe. The wire I'm using is gold over brass. The wire I was looking for was gold over silver. Unobtainable in the states. I even tried to get companies to make this stuff for me.
This recipe comes from a fellow Audiogoner named Jadem6. Thanks Jadem.
So I settled for a hard annealed 18awg (mistake with hard annealed I think as I didn't know any better) for ground and 3 runs of 28awg for the signal. No twists, layed over 3/4 inch cotton piping + and - opposite sides of the piping and run in cotton sleeve - no dialectric really other than - cotton. Thes terminated into some very high end Furutech connectors, rhodium, locking, don't recall the model number. They work VERY WELL!
Thanks for the tip Ozzy! I'll be making a set to compete with my Tesla's.
I'd be curios as well regarding your DIY speaker cables. I built my own interconnects using Jadems 6 recipe. Not only did his "science" make sense, the cables I built are great.
Nice system Ozzy. It's funny in a way. I almost bought the Egglestons and suddenly went sideways and ordered a pair of Decade D1's. I have a Pass X350.5 and Synergistic Research cables.
I'm thinking about an X10 preamp too having owned the Cary SLP-05 which I regretfully sold. I don't currently have a preamp as I'm going DAC into Pass and PS Audio GCPH phono pre into Pass direct.
Oh, I also have a JL Audio F113.
Yikes even my alcohol setup looks like yours! Pretty scary.
