Description

Well im 22, attending Pacific Lutheran University this fall under the Army ROTC scholarship. Thank God Tacoma has some high end HiFi shops along with Seattle or I would go crazy.

I wouldnt say im an audiophile, more of a lyricalphile. Words and music are more important than the equipment. Good music that is recorded well is the best "tweak" you can do to any system IMHO. Gold in Gold out. Trash in, Colored trash out.

Oh btw, that amp in the bottom of the stand is my one month old Rotel RA1062 that im now selling if anyone is interested, pics up up in the sale area for it.

I really like the way this system sounds, even though the room is the choke point in the whole equation. My dorm room at PLU is a double made for one person with loft. I took the most expensive one I could get for a single person because I dont trust any of those lil kids with my stuff and I dont want a roommate either, had that when i moved out of my parents house and it sucked.

Yes, dont worry, i have taken out my own insurance policy for the entire system in case of Fire, Flood, theft, earthquake, misuse, war, acts of God and my girlfriend etc etc etc.

Any comments or opinions are more than welcome. Thanks.

Actually my friend gave this to me because he had upgraded his amp. The fuse was blown and the tubes were all burnt so I took to my local hifi shop and had them check it out. Nothing was wrong so we popped in a new fuse and new tubes. New tubes:i bought a matched quad of Sovtek EL84 for the channels and then replaced the pre's with Sovtek 12AX7 and Electro-Harmonics 12AT7.
    • Rotel RCD-1072
A good pickup for the price, was looking into shanling tube cdp or Primaluna tube cdp so we will see how they both review
    • Vandersteen 2ce Signature
Excellent bang for the buck open air speakers. Really does justice to tube amplifiers and I love them because of how plain looking they are. You just ignore them and listen to the music which is what it is all about anyway.
    • Van Den Hul DB-102 III Hybrid
Great connection. Works well in this system enough so that I have no desire to upgrade the cables at all.
    • PS Audio Xstream Prelude SC
Good fit, makes me feel a bit safer about the voltage coming into the system. My salesman promised VAST IMPROVEMENTS THAT I COULD HEAR!!!! lol ya ok, i like them for other reasons.
    • Audioquest Type 8
6 feet to each side, internal bi-wire with spade terminations. Neat stuff
    • Golden Sound #1
For CDP and Tube amp vibrations. Dont know how well it works but it looks cool so meh.

Mass loading is not a bad idea, just not with your amp. Mass loading is one of those fun tweaks to try and if it works then great if not, not much lost. Folks use books, rocks, and a whole host of other things but I would move the amp a good distance from the cd player...introduces noise that you just don't need.

Would this be you Eric...very nice indeed, love the sigs! I would get the amp off of the CD player though...sure to sound better next to it rather than on top.
