I would say the amps and preamp are probably a limiting factor here. They are probably not as transparent as the latest offerings from other manufacturers.
You dont say what kind of sound you are looking for? I have heard the Audio Research sound really nice with wilsons, but valves may not be the way to go as you need a lot of good clean,fast power.
The CD player and speakers are good though.
