Hi Scott, Great setup, agree similar interests. I will admit there are times when the volume gets to "concert levels", especially during parties when someone's favorite song starts playing. Makes for a great time for others to enjoy the system. I also have a number of Blu-Ray concerts which can also lead to excursions. One thing I noticed with the addition of the 31's was that sound quality was really enhanced, especially at low listening levels, which gives me a lot of flexibility for different types of music. The Maestros are still new so tuning is still in progress, but I am at a point where you can't tell the subs are in the system unless you turn them off. Obviously, this is the goal for a music sub and where the 31's excel over the previous 212's.
Hi Scott, I'm fortunate to have a big volume listening space so the Maestro's and the Rel 31's are a good fit. I had a stereo pair of Rel 212's prior to the 31's with the Scala EVO's. Was expecting some improvement in the bass integration/blending but the level of improvement turned out to be quite dramatic. Doesn't aways happen in this hobby! The Maestros' are still breaking in, I don't expect as dramatic an impact of the 31's as with the Scala's but no plans to remove them from my system.
Hi emergingsoul, appreciate the comments. Regarding powerplants, I have 2 because I am running all my power amps through them along with the other components so my peak draw can be quite high. I have dedicated circuits for each. I have experimented with amps through several conditioners and the powerplants were the first ones that felt did not color the sound. Prior to the powerplants I was using Furman Reference products, which I consider to be great. For source components, my experience is the powerplants result in audio performance at least equivalent to Furman. I am not necessarily a fanboy for PS gear but, at least for my system, feel the powerplants have broad a level on consistency to power quality that is audible. Also, the zone control and firmware updates for the units have proven valuable. I tend to change gear quite often but have no plans to move away from the powerplants.
