I started this hobby over forty years ago. I'm not an inveterate gear head, for example, I've only had six set of speakers over that time. This system is the culmination of a number of iterations over that time and I'm pretty much done. I'm not sure the Financial Controller will allow any more major purchases - to be fair, not too many of these were authorised ahead of time :-).
The range of equipment in NZ is not great, so everything was purchased un-auditioned. A bit of gamble, but everyone that has heard the system agrees it sounds good. The K50, Kassandra, cables and rack were purchased new in NZ. The Kassandra was special order - no stock in NZ. The MusikLabs and G2JRs purchased off Audiogon.
I've aimed for organic, musical components and believe I've got a system that represents that.
The only change I envisage making is swapping the speakers out when we move to a smaller house / room on retirement. There are a lot of great options, including the Genesis Maestro to consider. I've auditioned the Wilson Sasha V and Gershman Black Swan locally, but in-home demo's are hard. This gives me the excuse to head to the Munich show (not perfect I know)!
The room is our main lounge but mostly used as a listening room. The large curtains behind the speakers open onto a large deck, so we can have music playing outdoors when we're entertaining.
I use the system almost every day. When I'm working from home it's on around 10x hours, so it is well used and appreciated.
