I think you’re right about how the drivers smooth out room noise.  I don’t have your technical background, but it makes sense and certainly explains what I’m hearing.  You have some remarkable systems, btw!

dtorc, no DSP.  It might seem counterintuitive, but the Rel line array actually improves the mids and highs without adding any thudding bass.  Overall, the low end in this system is clean, lifelike, and fast.  Absolutely no bloat or boominess. The bass is balanced and not exaggerated at all.  Very minor room treatment.  Thanks for asking!
