Hello Goose,
I read your wrote any topic that you have Woodley's creme furniture polish. Can you help for me that where I can buy this polish, because on Woodley's website hasn't it.
Thank you for your helping.
Best regards,
Gyula
P.S.: Very nice your system. In the days I heard Vienna Acoustics Liszt. It has great sound!

Thanks Goose, certainly looks good .

Schubert, since I had a window at the first reflection point there isn't much I could do. The blinds are Hunter Douglas duette architella dual core blinds. I wanted to do something on the bottom besides an acoustic panel so it wouldn't get too dead. I found the design from Argen Sound Diffusers and it is made out of 3/4 inch birch plywood. It is actually three panels that I hung on the wall with the 1/2 round trim strips at the joints. It was a fairly easy DIY project that used about 1/2 sheet of plywood and the 1/2 rounds came from a store that specializes in trim and moldings. I think it helps break up those first reflections.

Goose, lovely room, I'm jealous !
Could you please expound a bit on what the home made diffuser under the window adds?
Never saw anything like that.

Spencer, I listened to a lot of speakers (up to $30k) before I decided on these. These were the ones I had the best emotional connection with. I really don't have any complaints about them and I think they will be with me for a long time.

goose

How do you like the Liszts? I was impressed when I heard them at a local dealer. cheers,
Spencer

sbank

Oh, okay. Their size fooled me---surprisingly small for such powerful amps. No gratuitous over-sizing for Keith!

Owner
Bdp24 those are the older Herron M150 mono block amps that have been updated to the current M1A amps. The great thing about Herron audio is that he can update older product to a current configuration for a nominal fee and his product sounds great and he is the best to work with.

goose

Ah, the phono pre is directly under the table. I was referring to the two pieces on the bottom right, with matching faceplates. They look like the original 19" Herron faceplate, as found on the STPH-1.

Bdp24 the phono pre amps are not Herron, they are older monolithic pre's with a power supply.

Owner
Milpai, since this was at the first reflection point, I decided something under the window was better than nothing. On the opposite wall is a raised panel door.

goose

It appears there are two Herron phono amps---how come?

Looking forward to your new speaker and images. How did you decide to go with a diffusion under the window on the right side? Congratulations on the new speakers. What brand?

I will be updating the room pictures when I purchase some new speakers. I may change the panels after further listening. The center panel has been replacef by a diffusor and I have added a small wood diffuser to the right side of the room under the window. I am limited in really treating the first reflection points to my satisfaction since I have a door on one side and a window on the other. I have changed the window treatments to double honeycomb core blinds. All in all the room sounds pretty good for the limitations I have from the listening position.

goose

Goose,
Great looking room & rig. You've done a great job on the setup. Bet it sounds super. Cheers,
Spencer

Goose,
What a beautifully room and system you have. No clutter and no tension - that is how I look at it. Nice pictures too!

I am a bit baffled by the room treatments on the side walls just behind the speakers. Any specific reason to put them there? I see that you do not have panels on the first reflection points. I am also in the process of re-arranging my panels. What are your room dimensions and how far have you placed the speakers into the room?

I might go for some new speakers in the near future. I have always heard great things about Avalons. But their sensitivity does not make them an ideal candidate in my system. Also their prices :-)

Again, very nice setup. I am sure you have great time listening to your music.

milpai

Owner
Garebear, My Avalons are spiked directly to the floor. I haven't experimented with any other material under the speakers. What have you discovered using the granite? At some point I'm going to change our my speakers. There are lot of things I like about the Avalon's but I'm going for my "last" pair of larger floor standers. Perhaps, Rockport, Magico, Verity or Acoustic Zen's.

.
Nice system and room.

Nipper, .....great touch. I want one.

Hello Goose - just a quick question to a fellow Avalon Ascendent owner.......my room is alo carpeted and I have the Avalon's on a 1'' block of granite with the supplied aluminum spikes. What are you using underneath yours as many have said that the 1'' aluminum spikes are still the most recommnded. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Regards,
Gary

Nice system + nice room. I could see settling in there for some nice extended listening sessions.

Nice room and well thought out system. Love your EC Strat and ASAT. I have an EC strat and a Fender Amer Standard Tele with a Mesa Tremoverb 2 12" combo.
MUCH smaller room than yours, but with bass trapping I have managed to get it to work.
I'm sure your room must sound great.

Raytheprinter,

I have a few guitars a Martin D-18V custom, Collings OM1AC custom, Fender Eric Clapton custom shop Stratocaster and the G&L ASAT. The amp that I am using now is the Fender Mustang III. It's a great little modeling amp is perfect for hauling around and jamming with my friends. I will be getting another quality tube amp at some point and am really interested in the Vintage Sound Amps. I had a Swart tube amp and sold it to fund my Collings guitar. If you have a chance to play a Collings guitar I would highly recommend them. They are expensive but sound fantastic!

Czbbcl,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I haven't checked this page for a while. I really like Herron audio equipment. I didn't compare it to the Pass Labs offerings. Prior to the Herron, I was using McIntosh equipment and find the Herron equipment to be superior in sonic an build quality. One of the things I like best about Keith's company is that you can actually contact him and he is very responsive to questions. He has upgraded my amps a couple of times to bring them to his current configuration. You don't find that very often and the upgrade price was very resonable. I would stick with Keith just for his customer alone and it's great that his product sounds excellent
