Folks, Thanks for the nice comments :)

As to the room treatment on reflective surfaces (or lack thereof), I did briefly try putting a rug on the floor. Didn't seem to make any noticeable difference.

I haven't found any big problems with room acoustics but at very high sound levels I can overload the room. By then my ears are so overloaded its not become a priority for me. In future, I will try some curtains, rugs, etc.

A few things are working to my advantage in this setup:
1) No parallel surfaces - the speakers are in a corner of the room (as is the fireplace) so the walls behind the speakers are at an angle. The ceiling is vaulted rising from a low of 9 feet to 20 feet at the peak.
2) Stone wall behind speakers - porous surface diffuses sound.
3) Equipment rack away from speakers - putting gear between speakers may be convenient but its not a good idea.
4) Bipolar speakers should reflect some sound into the room from the back. This also seems to reinforce low frequencies somewhat. However, too close to the wall will collapse the image. I have played around with this trying to strike a balance.

Well these are my thoughts on the room setup. Maybe some of you other a'goners can enlighten me further with *your* experiences ;)

OK! Everybody round-up their favorite black and silver discs and let's rock the house!

System edited: Recently replaced tubes with premium types (13D9s, 6201 PQ, Siemens & Halske Silverplate 12AU7). Big improvement. Next upgrade will be cables.
