I had an Audion KT120 and a First Watt SIT-3 and First Watt F7 as amps in my system. I also had a Supratek Cortese LCR and an Audio Hungary APR 204 preamps in my system.
I think I got hooked on HiFi and didn't stop to think about what it was I was looking for. I settled down and went from Maargas to Saadhana and love the sound of Rethm. Sticking to Horns.
I definitely liked the SIT-3 more than the F7 (although both are outstanding). Same with the Audion. I moved to New Orleans and have my system in a far less than ideal space. But we love our house. I needed a little more oomph so thought I would try the A-S Class D which had such outstanding reviews. I find they have slightly more detail than my previous amps and the few extra watts needed to fill the house with music when we are entertaining. I wanted to use the balanced inputs, so found a freshly upgraded A-S MP-3 for sale and snapped it up. That is a wonderful combo. I will say they are unforgiving a bit in detail. I just rewired my ground for my house and got rid of a loud ground hum I have been battling since I upgraded my system. Ralph has been wonderful in assisting me as I at first blamed the A-S MP-3 for being too detailed and sensitive, which I sent back to him and he gave it the A-OK. I have a great sounding system currently, although if I had the ability to have an audio room, I think it would be my audio nirvana.
I suppose I am at my apex. My realistic dream upgrades would be the new Rethm Saadhana and perhaps an A-S MP-1.
My unrealistic dreams would be (perhaps as I have yet to hear in person) a pair of Avantgarde Duo GT
Having fun. I am in it for the music so thoroughly enjoying it.
Thanks for looking
