Ok Ive got $17,000 worth of gear connected to my $350 surrounds that are doubleing as my front mains. I must say, this is the best i've ever heard them sound. The bass is still weak though and the soundstage is suffering a bit. Do you guys think some dedicated stands would improve things?
I actually just bought this preamp. Recently my line of work took a hit and I sold a Sonic Frontiers line 3, A pair of Dunlavy 4a's and my Vpi Scout with an Ortofon Kontrapunkt B. Things picked up rather quickly and I purchased the Athenas. Im waiting for a company to crate them and put them on a freight truck. I wanted an x-1 preamp to compare to the line-3 but Im not ready to put out $2500 yet. I also bought a used music Hall mmf-7 and wanted a double duty preamp. Didn't feel like I could go wrong for $300 especially considering what people have said about the Forte. I cant give it much of an evaluation with these speakers though. I'll give a full report on the preamp once I get the Mirages on their dedicated stands. hehe. Or when the Athenas arrive.
Ok, Im actually waiting for my Dunlavy Athenas to show up and couldn't stand just looking at my gear so in went the mirage surrounds. The weight of the cables is almost pulling one of the speakers off the stool. hehe It looked so ridiculous I just had to take a picture.
