For sale is a 2 channel Sunfire solid state amplifier. It is 325 watts / channel. I bought this new from Stereoland in Uptown Minneapolis about 20 years ago. I have the original manual and box, as well as an extra bulb that illuminates the face. The amp comes with a glass platform. Everything is in excellent condition.

The amp can drive anything. I used to drive a pair of 3-way, tower Paradigms that strained two lesser, previous amps. The Sunfire had no problem. Later, when I moved my system to a smaller room, I switched to the system you see in the pics. It’s no problem to drive smaller speakers like the Polks in the pic. You really cannot have too much power.

As for appearance, there is a small mark above the words “Architect’s Choice Series II” in the bottom left corner of the face plate. I tried to make this as obvious as possible in the photos for the sake of transparency. I put my finger in the photo next to the mark, which I am shining a bright light on to give you a sense of the size of the mark – maybe three millimeters long. There is also a slight discoloration on the top of the amp which I tried to bring out in the photo. But neither of these marks are anything I notice when enjoying the amp in the system. I don’t shine lights directly on the amp while listening.

This amp works great with the Sunfire tube preamp, also for sale. They connect via XLR. If you buy both the pre-amp and the amp I will throw in the XLR cables. There are many wiring configurations available to you. The manual describes your options. I bi-wire my speakers, using the current source to drive the higher frequencies and the voltage source to drive the lower frequencies. I also hooked up a REL subwoofer to each channel. My room fills with sound, totally enveloping.

So why am I selling? I want to switch things up. I’ve enjoyed the Sunfire amp and pre-amp for 20 years, and I would like to try something different. But I am in no rush. Thank you for considering this purchase.

Please note that I am paying shipping via FedEx. This cost is factored into the price.
