Up for sale is a Marantz SR5008 that I purchased used from Audio Consultants in the Chicago area. I tried a new (at the time) Marantz 1506 receiver, but the HDMI switching did not work with my old Dish satellite receiver. Audio Consultants recommended I try this slightly older SR5008, and it worked great with my satellite receiver, so I kept it. The receiver was used in a second small home theater set up for my kids to watch TV and movies on an old plasma TV, but that second room fell out of favor when I purchased a new OLED TV for the main surround sound setup. Since then (at least 5 years ago), the receiver has been in storage except for a couple of times when I loaned it out to friends who were considering buying a new Marantz receiver - it gave them opportunity to hear the "Marantz sound flavor" and understand that controlling the unit is best with the on-screen display because most Marantz receivers only have the tiny circular display that shows the selected input and numeric volume level.
This unit would be perfect for someone who does NOT need to do 4K HDMI video switching (because it is not HDCP 2.2-compliant and will not support copy-protected 4K video content, but it can display/switch unprotected 4K) but wants to hook it to a somewhat older TV or mostly watches content that is not 4K.
The unit is in Good condition with only the slightest hint of surface scrapes on the front right of the faceplate. I purposely took the photos in oversaturated light so that these very light blemishes are visible. In normal light (or a dark room watching a movie), it looks to be in Excellent condition with no major dings or scratches. Since it was used in the kids' room, it could probably use a surface cleaning, which I did not do because the only thing I have would have left a residue and odor.
I do not have the original box, but I do have the original:
- remote
- power cord
- AM radio antenna loop
- a copy of the Owner's Manual in PDF format that I burned onto a CD (or can easily be downloaded from the Marantz web site - the unit actually came new with the manual on a CD, there never was a paper copy of the manual)
- Audyssey setup and measurement microphone
