Description

Front end is a Grimm Mu1 server/streamer feeding a Chord Dave through a Bibacord AES/EBU digital cable.  The Dave goes to the Elekit integrated 300B amp through Cardas Clear Beyond RCAs.  Emotionally involving.  It's addictive.

There's an English Electric switch handling the ethernet, connected with a Muon Pro ethernet filter to the Grimm.

Relocated the GR-Research open baffle servo sub 4' behind my listening position.  It totally disappears there with no room modes!  Sounds like all the bass is coming from the soundstage.

Both the speakers and the amp are kits I built with a lot of help from my brother-in-law, a retired circuit board designer.

Room is irregular, including gable windows behind me, which certainly helps.

Speaker cables are all silver Gryphon Guideline cables from the '90's.

This is a kit build.  Had a local body shop paint the cabinets Ferrari Red gloss.

Nice! The NX-Oticas sound great with 300B SET amps. I have recently passed my pair to my son and replaced them with GR Line Forces. Nice idea moving the sub behind the listening position. The Line Forces cross over quite a bit higher, so that's not an option for me.

Anyone in the DFW area is welcome to stop by and hear them.  I’d love some independent feedback.

The speakers look awesome. After recently falling in love with maggies, I’ve wanted to hear your speakers.  I watch a lot of gr research videos!

Yes, I have found that blue tape hinders the SQ.  The green is totally neutral!

The servo sub kit is not cheap and weighs about 90 lbs.  More importantly, I have no sense of needing any additional bass.

This is an exceptional value.

Is that acoustic dampening green tape on the carpet ;-).  They look amazing. How long did the build take?  I'm really tempted to attempt this build, at least the servo sub for starters.  And why did you go with a single sub vs. left and right?  Do you plan to add a second servo sub or is this sufficient for your tastes?

These are 93db efficient.  Easy to drive.

I'm surprised the Aegirs work on those speakers, they crashed and burned on my Fyne F501s.
