Frozentundra,

Sorry for the delay, as I did not get a notification. In direct comparison the 4367 is a lot more detailed than the 228be in both the bass and highs. Mids are about the same level of detail. The bass is much more textured on the 4367. I could not enjoy the 228be without subs. But the 4367 is passable without subs (still needs subs lol).

The advantage (or disadvantage) of the 228be is the wide dispersion. You get a lot more room interaction and soundstage width/depth. The sound of the 4367 is kind of all in front of the speakers and not as wide. At the end of the day the 4367 just sounds more life like though. Something about the dynamics just makes them sound more real.

I have heard the Salon 2 many times. The 4367 is the same caliber of sound quality but different. The Salon has much deeper and wider soundstage. Vocals are behind the speakers sometimes. The JBL is all up front in stage and not as tall either. But the JBL has a life like snap I feel is missing from the Salon. I think most people would like the salon for jazz and classical. I like rock and have a preference for the JBL but would be fine with the salon 2 also.

The Thiel is a great speaker. It has impressively deep bass. Deeper than both the 4367 and much deeper than the 228be. Its highs are a hair tipped up and they are showing their age. The tweeter is just not as detailed or sweet as current speakers. The mids are not a clear as the revel or JBL but all in all a nice little speaker.  I still own them. They sit in my living my room in a second system.

@james633

I noticed your past speakers
Thiel 2.4?

How do the 3 speakers you’ve used compare ?

I noticed in past a shootout of horn M3 ? Vs Salon 2 ,  and the Salon won out by a smidge. ?

What’s you’re spin on sound qualities

We’ll done

Thanks jond,

Not sure I would call the 4367 a looker lol, but they make up for it in sound quality.

James was perusing your thread on your JBL happiness and stopped by to ogle them looking good my friend!

The subs blend well. I use the highpass filter built in the E112s and have them passed at 60hz. To use the highpass I can put of the “preamp” into the subs then out to the amp.

I measured the frequency response of the room then did minor gain tweaking to taste by ear after that. I get flat bass plus or minus 7db. I have a 7db spike at 30hz and a 7db hole at 55hz.

James633;

Very nice
How do the subs integrate with speakers ?
