Nice change-up I'm loving the blue now Dupree!

@milpai all the components are in the same room as you can see in the new configuration. Got rid of the mustard yellow. It was a bit much. Room has a much cooler feel now and I don't have to run such long speakers cables like I did with the old setup. Thanks for the kind words!

@erik_squires I had a couple of extra sound panels so I stuck them in the corner. In my new configuration (see new pics) I mounted them behind the subs as bass traps. I don't know how much low energy they're absorbing but the subs sound pretty good on their own. You may remember but I experimented with a miniDSP crossover to see if it did anything based on your suggestion. I wound up plunking down for the JL Audio CR1. Subs integrate much better with the mains now. Thanks for the great tips!

@highend64 the subs are fairly easy to work with since they come with digital room optimization. I can pretty much set them up anywhere. I also added an active crossover so not it's even easier to integrate with my mains. Thanks!

@jond yes, I made the treatments myself out of Rockwool and some 1 x 3s. The mustard yellow was a bit much so I went darker and bluer. I agree on the Mini. The birch ply has a nice finish to it and looks very organic. Thanks!

Beautiful esthetics. That a fine looking room and speakers.

@romans1832, thanks! It's a work in progress. I just picked up a second F110, this one a V2. It seems to pair nicely with the V1. Subs make such a difference. Every system could use at least one, IMO. Your Focals look great. I've heard nothing but good things about those. I also like the LED lighting in your room. I'm planning something similar. I'm halfway finished with a DIY audio rack and I'm going to run LED strips under the shelves. Very chill room you have there. I listened to the Dead nonstop for many years and went to a fair number of shows from '89-'93. I used to collect bootlegs but now I stream what's available on Tidal or Qobuz. Phil sounds great coming out of the JL. Thanks for the look.

Great looking set-up, I have a similar set-up with the JL Audio F110v2 and Focal Sopra No.1. I would love to hear the Magicos with that sub. I like the name you use, I was listening to The Dead for a couple of hours last night.

Beautiful room and system you put together. Compliments!

Nice system, I'm sure it sounds great. Very pleasing room design and nice coordination of speaker and decor colors.

Very nice system! The Magico Mini mkII's are beautiful and seems perfect for your space. Very well done.

Thanks you guys! I'm glad you like the space! The sound is fantastic, a huge upgrade from my prior setup, which was Bowers Wilkins CM5s driven by a Peachtree Nova integrated. I've also added a Lumin Mini streamer to this setup and upgraded all the power cables. The soundstage is indeed very 3D. Incredibly fast transient detail. You can hear the texture on bass strings and how tight drum skins from the attack and decay. It's all very realistic.

I did make the sound panels myself out of Rockwool sound insulation. The hardest part was mounting them on the wall. But well worth the effort. The bass performance is excellent. One of the big motivators for upgrading from the CM5s was to get a speaker that was up to the performance of the JL Fathom 110. I've played around with the LP frequency and now have it set at about 38hz. The Mini IIs are flat down to 37hz. The sub is a sealed enclosure and it has digital room correction, so it doesn't create any room modes from the listening seat. I read a lot of commenters who say pairing a sub with these speakers won't work but I find it perfectly fills out the bottom frequencies when it's called for. I've considered getting a second sub but I don't think the room can handle it. And one sounds pretty awesome so it's not on my radar. What I am considering is an amplifier upgrade to more easily drive the Minis.

Yes, the components are in the same room but far enough that I have 25-foot cable runs. I plan on DIYing a couple of butcher block stands so I can place the gear on either side of the sub and shorten my speaker cables. I also want to go to a monoblock setup. And yes, I definitely close the curtains when I listen. The curtains soak up a ton of refraction coming off the windows and made a huge difference when I hung them up. Thanks again for all your comments!

I love your setup!   Awesome job

I'm gonna bet that this system makes the kind of 3D images you believe you could walk around inside.  Nice work, Dupree!

Cool room love all the mustard yellow and those Magico's look great, the Mini is by far their best looking speaker to me. Did you make those room treatments yourself?

jond

Very nice and clean system setup. Have you had any issues with bass performance? Happy listening

highend64

Nice, I also am a fan of Furman and Mytek.  I thought it was interesting you covered the lower corners behind the speakers.  Did you find it smoothed out the treble somewhat?

erik_squires

Squeaky clean, elegant setup. Are the components in the same room or different? I am hoping you cover the windows when you sit down to do some serious listening.
