Still putting this system together. It is interesting I started with the speakers on solid state gear and it is interesting how the sound is changing after each component upgrade. Any recommendation on a tube preamp or phono preamp would be much appreciated! I am already well over my budget so I am budget conscious.
I have not purchased a turntable, phono pre, or a preamp yet. If I could find a nice pre w/phono built in that would be great. I plan to purchase a pre next month so I'll probably scout ag then. I have been looking at the wright sound pre http://www.wright-sound.com/products and also the cary slp-88.
What kind of table are you using? You don't want to use a $4000 table with a $99 phono pre? If you budget is really tight, the parasound p/ph100 is a great deal and I think I saw a sumiko for under $100?
