@tomaswv yeah that’s what was frustrating me because I’m using balanced interconnects too and figured that was the first place to look. I will say they’re very quiet now and super happy with them.
Interesting. I have bel canto monoblocks and I use balanced interconnects and no hum. But I tried some RCA ICs once and did hear a hum. Couldn’t get rid of it and went back to balanced. And, I have a Cambridge streamer as well—will have to investigate weather it’s the antenna causing the hum.
@tomaswv funny thing, I liked everything about the Bel Cantos right away - they felt revealing and detailed. AND I heard an annoying hum. Totally vexing, I went through some methodical troubleshooting without tracking it down. That’s when I got the Audioquest power cables - they are heftier than I thought they’d be and I think well-insulated. Figured the hum could maybe be cominv from poorly insulated stock cables. Nope! Hum was STILL there. Finally figured out it was the antennae on the Cambridge streamer that the amps were interacting with. I didn’t think of it because I use a hard wired network connection and wasn’t using Bluetooth or wi-fi, so I didn’t think it was “active.” Anyway, I still like the amps. Happy with the power cords - why downgrade just because they had nothing to do with anything? :)
Do you use the AQ power cables with the bel canto amps? What are your thoughts about their interactions? I have 500Ms and haven’t found a power cable to be much different than stock.
