Description

This is my 2-channel set up for while I am working out of my home. I am very pleased with the Montana Speakers. Does anyone have any experience with other custom or standard Montana Loudspeakers?

BTW, I forgot about the arms. I have had an OL Silver, Rega RB600, Bluenote Borghese and Borromeo on my Spacedeck, but prefer the Spacearm that I have now. My buddy started out with a OL modified RB250, but now has the Interspace arm which he prefers.

I have heard the above mentioned cartridges on my Spacedeck and have preferred the Benz. My buddy has a Clearaudio Aurum Beta on his Interspace and it's a fine sounding combo. We have never directly compared the two 'tables in the same system, but I bet it would be extremely close.

My concern about the Interspace is that the motor looks about as isolated as the one on the Horizon. I'm wondering if the extra isolation provided by the Spacedeck makes a significant difference. Ozzy, what arms/carts were on the Interspace/Spacedecks that you heard? If the Nottingham distributor ASL happens to have all the Nottingham turntables on display, I may drive down to Indianapolis to have a listen.

I have the Spaceck, but a friend has the Interspace. I would say they compare very closely. The Interspace is definitely the bargain table of the Nottingham lineup, a much better bargain than my Spacedeck.

Have you listened to any other Nottingham turntables? If so,
how did the Interspace compare?

I have had a Dynavector DV20X, a Shelter 501 and an Ortofon Kontrapunkt b besides the Benz L2. I like the Benz better than all of them, the Shelter was very close and actually was probably limited by the Bluenote arm I had at the time. I would really like to try another one with the Spacearm some day.

Wow! The custom veneer is awesome on your speakers. My Montanas are actually all custom. They were built with a transmission line design for a guy that liked low wattage SET amplification. I bought them used from his estate. They have a suspended tweeter. I will post another picture...it is a wild design. They sound great though!

I noticed you have a Nottingham TT also.

Have you tried different cartridges with your turntable?

I have a pair of SP2 Signatures that have a custom veneer (see my system pics). This is actually my second pair, I had a pair in cherry finish that I foolishly sold to a buddy. I have had many speakers grace my listening room from Von Schweikert, Alon, Roman Audio, Magnepan, ACI, Totem and Meadowlark but none has bettered the Montanas in the important areas of involvement and sheer "fun to listen to" factor. I would imagine the SP3s are even better performers.
