I'd appreciate any recommendations fellow Agon'ers can give. This is the first time I've put my system up on Agon, so be easy on me :-)
I'm pretty happy with the Krell 400xi driving the Dynaudios for now, but would like to go to separates eventually. Any recommendations for separates are appreciated! My next step will be to go from the Sonos/Electrocompaniet to a single box music streaming device. I'm looking at the PS Audio PerfectWave as soon as the Bridge comes out. Any alternatives there are appreciated too. I'm avoiding USB DACs as I do not want a direct connection to a computer - I prefer accessing my music collection over the network and control via iPhone/iPad.
* I'll take pictures soon. I'm in an apartment now, so the acoustics aren't great and the speaker positioning is way less than optimal.
You have the Kef ls50 wii speakers, are you using them as your reference audio speakers? I’m debating on jumping off the $50k audio setup in my dedicated treated room and just getting the Kef ls50 wII’s with the kc62 subs to replace all my stuff. Do you think the Kef ls50 wii are good enough to replace a rack of very good components and a $15k speaker? Thanks
System edited: **Updated 4/13/2012 to include Octave Amp, Sonos Cullen Mod, Nordost Tyr SC Upgrade, Audience PC "e" Upgrade, and Silver Reference Interconnect. Each upgrade resulted in an audible difference and bettered the system. It's better than ever now!
I used to own the 400xi for almost 2 years. This is a pretty neutral and analytic piece, but I didn't realized at first it was really lifeless regarding music. I started asking me questions when I realised I spent less and less time listening music. I was bored. My system was Rega Satur + 400xi + Totem Forest When I changed the Krell for the Plinius 9200 it was like a complete new system. Same transparency but so much more involving, with more dynamic, better timbers, instruments took their body back.
Since then I can stop listening and enjoying music again. I added the Hovland Radia which gave me more impact and dynamic. That's all about music !
I listen essentially Jazz and World music, And I prefer subtelty over strengh even if my description tells more about strengh. Sorry for my approximative english. Good luck Fabien
