Hi.. Just purchased my first set of Wilson Watt/Puppy 7's. My existing system uses pass labs amp/pre. All wires are purist. LE to amp and canorus to pre / cd. All interconnects are venustats luminist. My existing system used Tannoy D700's, and dealer installs wilson's next week. Wondering your thoughts on purist / wilson combo?
Great system. Do you live in India ? I am planning on opening a Dealership with Hi-End Components in India. Any advice will be appreciated. My web address is www.sunnycomp.com/theater.php [email protected].
What a great sounding system! You have really worked hard to pick such awesome equipment. I'll bet those WAtt Puppies sound fantastic with the Halcro components. Well done!
HI there, Your system is awesome!!! I wanted to pick your mind.In your opinion, I was wondering about whether to purchase a pair of Wilson sophias or Krell resolution 1. The front end will be : Krell sacd standard, Krell KCT preamp, and Krell FPB 300cx. thanks, ed
System edited: Updated as of 23 May 2005. Upgraded speakers from Wilson Sophias to Wilson Watt Puppy System 7.0. Changed Finite Elemente Pagoda Signature racks to TITAN Master Reference Granite Racks. Thanks for reading...
well i've enjoyed played around a lot with cables over the years...for now i have few pairs as you can see from the pics posted...i switch around my cables every few months to change the presentation a bit...
in my system the nordost valhalla between my halcro pre+power was extremely fast and neutral but somewhat lean and cold...whereas the xlo limited edition was awesome in bass extention and weight with heavier mids and slightly lower in definition and a bit rolled off at the very top in comparison to valhalla.
the siltechs signature g5 forbes lake is a good cable with spectacular detail and very illuminating and delicate top end as you would expect from pure silver cables - the bass nevertheless is light and bouncy...
which brings me to purist audio ak limited edition cables (these are special edition cables which are in between their dominus and venustas line - and were made especially for the singapore dealer)...these cables are perfect all rounders - they have excrutiatingly low noise floor which lights up the entire soundstage with detail throughout the frequency spectrun...the mids are a wee bit warm and wholesome which is perfect for me especially as they complement the halcros very well...
i listen mainly to vinyl (95% v/s 5% aluminium disks) and the purist audio throughout seems to have mated extremely well with the halcros and my front end analogue gear.
The room size is 10.5FT X 14FT X 8FT. I suppose in Asia where i am from, this is a fairly mid sized room. Besides, the room treatment was needed for Wilsons to tame the bass response and reflections.
Frankly after years into this hobby, I find 'Room' to be the single most important component in a system which has the maximum effect on the quality of the sound.
It took me months of careful and critical listening to install all those ASC, Echo Buster and Eighth Nerve products and position the speakers to interface with the room boundaries perfectly...But once i got all the reflections, boom etc tamed, the sound is spectacular.
Congratulations on an extraordinary system. Along with the fine equipment, I'm impressed with your attention to room treatment. But do feel that the small room size limits the performance somewhat? Or perhaps it's not so small as it appears?
