Yes - on A'gon it is not hard identify those who simply lust over gear (with a perpetual desire for something new and different SFX) from music lovers who desire timbral accuracy and a balanced presentation.

Sorry it took so long to respond - I don't get to this page often. Thanks for your comments. In fact, this summer I tested a center channel (DSP5000C) and decided not to keep it. The phantom center is far more coherent.

I am a long-time Meridian user. I believe that their approach is outstanding, but doesn't appeal to many audiophiles because it eliminates so much tweaking. Many years ago I decided that the music was the key, and I got tired of obsessing on cables, amp/speaker matching, etc.

Great system. I have read a lot about Meridian and have listened to Bob's talk at the AES meeting in the UK about the benefits of active and particularly DSP. You are very lucky to own such a remarkable and reputed system. It appears from the photos that you use phantom for a center - which, if so, is very sensible and I agree with that approach fully. I am surprised you don't have more comments - perhaps it reflects the overwhelming attitude against science and anything digital in A'gon forums.

System edited: I now stream all music in Apple Lossless format from my PC to the Sonos ZP80. The ZP 80 is connected via coaxial digital cable to my 568.2 processor. Extensive testing revealed the Sonos, connected digitally, to beat every high-end transport we could fiind, as well as the Apple Airport Epresss connected via optical digital cable. I have not tested the Squeezebox - having chosen the Sonos system for its outstanding user interface.

Nice system. I had an opportunity to hear the 8000's for the first time on Saturday. Very impressed. I currently own Revel Salons and Levinson 33H's. Have you ever compared the dsp-8000's to any others? If so, which ones? What s your impression of the 8000's?
