reply for milpai. Firstly, not sure why I can't reply underneath peoples post. I don't see an area to click on to do so. So, I am posting it in the comment section. If anyone has anyone input into how to reply directly to someone so it shows up as a reply underneath their post instead of a new comment at the top I would appreciate it.
Anyway, so milpai. Before I bought, I consulted with John Rutan from Audio Connection and he assured me they were not to big for my room. At first they were a little boomy and the drums dominated in the mix. Would that be overload? But I moved them and it solved the issue. I have tried them in several other spots, most sound really good. I wouldn't know how hard they are to drive since my amp has more than enough power. I also tried them with a Peach Tree Nova 220SE integrated, no problem. If your worried about overloading your room, you could play it safe and get the 30s with a sub. Either way, I'm sure they won't disappoint. Mine replaced an Elac FS 409, a speaker I still have and love and is another system. The Elac409 is move extended on the top, but is doesn't have the bass, fullness, and weight of the Proac. As far as imaging, the Elac is a little better. I know there is a thousand speakers out there, but for me at this time I am completely content with the D48Rs, I don't see any need to spend more for a speaker.
Hello, how did the core tech change the sound of your system?,,AND,, do they make 220 units?
It was hard to tell on the core tech changes because I was doing other changes at the time. So it wasn't some mind blowing change or anything like that. I didn't have another conditioner on hand to do comparisons. The only thing I can say today is I like it that it is user friendly, can plug the amp into it, it does it's job and it is a contributing factor into the overall sound of the system. As far as something that made a noticeable difference was the Triode Wired Labs power cables, there I notice a difference from multiple other PCs I had on hand and tried. However, I did not like the Triode Wire cords going into the conditioner. It was weird, everything kind of collapsed and sounded flat compared to the Wireworld Silver Electra 7. Speaker placement seems to impact the sound the most. With the D48s, it's never bad, just which spot is best. That is a good problem with these speakers, in my experience with these speakers, you can plop them down and be happy with them, it is hard to find the motivation to move them when they already sound good. But dial it in and they sound even better.
