I know the speakers are enclosed. They slide out for playing. I have a wife, five year old, and four cats. I had to do something to protect them. It still sounds good.
Installed the SuperDupont mod. Helped with long term listening.

Great player for SACD and HDCD. Unfortunately it has major problems with the laser. Also, NAD has discontinued support for the player since it is about 9 years old. I found a guy in L.A. that finally fixed the problem. I recommend Henry Radio for this repair. I like players that can play these two formats, that is why I bought the Oppo.
